Title: These Where All My Clothes

Year: 2022

Medium: Textile

Showed at: A Casa E Sua Agueda, Portugal, Street Art Festival Marrakech, Morocco

During the COVID-19 lockdown, I began sewing together every item of clothing I owned into one large wearable textile structure. I wanted to experience the discomfort of letting go of something that felt important to my identity. Surprisingly, the loss of these belongings did not bother me as much as I had expected. The process continued until I had nothing left to wear. In a two-hour performance I wore each garment one final time, creating a ritual farewell to a previous version of myself. The work became a physical archive of personal history. When the piece was later exhibited hanging in the streets of Marrakech, visitors removed the clothes in an unguarded moment and began wearing them again, unexpectedly returning the garments to their original purpose and redistributing the work back into everyday life.
