Marieke Leene's work explores the strange and often humorous contradictions of living in a world shaped by technology, global systems, and environmental crises. Working across video, installation, performance, sound, and material experimentation, she creates situations where digital logic collides with physical reality.
She is particularly interested in translation: how things change when they move between worlds — from physical to digital, from data to material, from machine perception to human interpretation. In these moments of translation, something is always lost, distorted, or unexpectedly revealed.
